Mobile Agents and Active Networks

چکیده
A technical report of the Broadband Switching & Systems Laboratory. Abstract This report compares two approaches to exploiting the power of modern networks, namely the mobile agents and active networks paradigms. The key architectural features of systems implementing these paradigms are outlined, and their many common features are elucidated. Significant differences in the proposed applications and the performance requirements for both paradigms are pointed out. The report makes the case that researchers in the two communities have much to learn from each other, particularly in the areas of security, authentication and resource discovery.

Resilience Enhancement of Active Distribution Networks Via Mobile Energy Storage Systems and Protection Coordination Consideration
Owing to the portability and flexibility of mobile energy storage systems (MESSs), they seem to be a promising solution to improve the resilience of the distribution system (DS). So, this paper presents a rolling optimization mechanism for dispatching MESSs and other resources in microgrids in case of a natural disaster occurrence. The proposed mechanism aims to minimize the total system cost b...
متن کاملDALD:-Distributed-Asynchronous-Local-Decontamination Algorithm in Arbitrary Graphs
Network environments always can be invaded by intruder agents. In networks where nodes are performing some computations, intruder agents might contaminate some nodes. Therefore, problem of decontaminating a network infected by intruder agents is one of the major problems in these networks. In this paper, we present a distributed asynchronous local algorithm for decontaminating a network. In mos...
متن کاملA Mobile Agent-Based Framework for Active Networks
This paper presents a framework for active networks. The framework is unique among other existing active networks in being based on mobile agents. It allows protocols to be implemented within mobile agents and dynamically deployed at end systems. Moreover, it can dispatch networked applications, including client/server programs built on TCP/IP, to remote computers. In this paper, we outline an ...
متن کاملLocating Performance Monitoring Mobile Agents in Scalable Active Networks
The idea of active networks has been emerged in recent years to increase the processing power inside the network. The intermediate nodes such as routers will be able to host mobile agents and many management tasks can be handled using autonomous mobile agents inside the network. One of the important limitations, which should be considered in active networks, is the restricted processing power o...

This paper focuses on advanced software research directions which are important to overcome a lot of bottlenecks already present in distributed heterogeneous environments. Special attention is given to remote programming, a new communication paradigm based on mobile intelligent agents and active networks as a building blocks of future client/server environments. Keywordsclient/server, remote pr...
